Brunswick Veterans are looking forward to a competitive and enjoyable year of hockey in 2009, our first complete season on our new ground at Brunswick Secondary College. The older members of the club are a mixture of club stalwarts who have played for the Wickers for decades, transfers from other clubs who now enjoy the Brunswick experience, and men and women who have taken up the game later in life and have picked up the skills quickly. Our grades cater for players of all levels to enjoy their hockey before, during and after the game. We have welcomed a number of new recruits to the club already this year and have plenty of room for more.
We are fielding six teams in 2009, an increase from five last year:
Women
- Women’s Vets (B) – Finished strongly in 2008, and the Women’s Vets are looking for new recruits. This team seems to have more fun playing than the rest of the Vets squads put together.
Men
- B Grade - This team got close to being elevated to A Grade and expects to challenge strongly for the flag again this year.
- C Grade (C West) – Played off in finals in 2008 and looks to go a step further this year.
- D Grade (D West) – Finished near the bottom of the ladder but with a number of new recruits is looking to improve.
- SuperVets Over 50’s (A) – This is our second year in the ‘A’ competition after holding our own last season where we finished 6th on the ladder. Putting together a strong squad to take another step up the ladder.
- SuperVets Over 50’s (B) – A new team this year due to our expanding number of players.
